China, Shanghai — October 12, 2026 — OECE Technology Pte. Ltd. today announced the commercial release of its next-generation 4x4 MPO08 and 8x8 MPO16 Optical Shuffle Modules. Engineered specifically for 400G, 800G, and 1.6T AI GPU compute trays, these passive optical matrix harnesses streamline physical layer infrastructure, improve chassis cooling performance, and dramatically reduce assembly times for high-density data center deployments.
As AI superclusters scale to support massive large language model (LLM) training and inference, managing optical interconnects inside tight 1U and 2U server chassis has emerged as a primary bottleneck. Traditional loose patch cabling creates severe physical clutter, obstructs cold airflow pathways and liquid cooling manifolds, and increases the risk of manual mis-wiring during manufacturing and maintenance.
Zero-Power Physical Matrix for High-Density GPU Trays
OECE’s 4x4 MPO08 and 8x8 MPO16 Optical Shuffles utilize a 100% passive, pre-terminated ribbon fiber crossover matrix to replace hundreds of discrete internal patch cords. By hardwiring non-blocking channel routes between multi-channel optical transceivers and network switch rails, the optical shuffle provides a clean, hardwired "optical highway" with zero power consumption.
"When evaluating 800G and 1.6T upgrades, data center architects often ask whether they should deploy active Optical Circuit Switches (OCS) or passive optical shuffles," said Allan Li, commercial leader at OECE Technology. "The answer lies in where the technology is applied. While OCS provides dynamic software-defined switching between pods, placing an active switch inside a server chassis is cost-prohibitive. OECE's passive shuffles solve intra-tray physical constraints with zero power and negligible insertion loss, making them the most cost-effective solution for in-chassis rail alignment."
Key Technical & Operational Metrics
• Elimination of Cable Congestion: Encapsulated in a 3.5 mm ultra-thin flex ribbon profile, the harness frees up internal chassis volume to maximize airflow and preserve liquid cooling performance.
• Ultra-Low Insertion Loss (≤0.35 dB):Built with continuous MT-to-MT ferrule ribbon arrays and zero internal fusion splices, guaranteeing maximum optical link margin for high-speed transceivers.
• 10x Deployment Efficiency:Factory pre-wired and 100% interferometer-tested crossover routing reduces manual GPU tray fiber installation times from 60 minutes to under 3-5 minutes per tray while eliminating human wiring error.
• High Optical Return Loss: Achieves ≥60 dB Return Loss (8∘ APC) using Single-Mode OS2 G.657.A1/A2 bend-insensitive fibers.
